H.E.A.T. is a group of men and women dedicated to helping others struggling with the disease of addiction.  We are a non-profit program that works to aid others restore self-worth and walk on the good path.  We have strong convictions that relief from the insanity of addiction is accomplished through discovery of your own true self and a relationship with the God of Your Understanding.

H.E.A.T is an experiential based program guided by the principles of the 12 steps of recovery from addiction.  Horses are the mainstay of our experiential program.  It has been our experience that bringing the horse into therapy and recovery has brought about a better insight and awareness to our core issues, more so than any other form of therapy we have been involved in.

The horse is the ultimate teacher when looking at ourselves and our relationships.  The horse is always honest and recognizes who we are and where we are at by our energy which is their main form of communication.  We can see multiple issues going on with a client by watching them interact with the horse. We can learn more about the client in an hour of Equine Therapy than in a month of individual therapy.

The horse will demonstrate an honest assessment of family issues, how each member interacts, communicates, and responds to one another.  The best part is that the horse accomplishes this in such an honest manner that it is far less threatening and offensive than if it came from traditional means of therapy.

This is why the name of our program is H.E.A.T.   Holistic Equine Assisted Therapy.  The horse helps us take a holistic view of our lives and in so doing we have an honest teacher showing how we really affect ourselves and therefore the world around us.

The horse has ultimately shown us the path to a greater
personal relationship with a Higher Power of our understanding, and therein aiding in a lasting recovery from the issues and conditions that hold us back from real joy and happiness.

Hiking, meditation, Native American sweat lodge ceremonies, and vision quests, are an essential part of H.E.A.T.  We reside on a 800 acre ranch which is on the western slopes of the Mt. Nebo Wilderness, Utah.
Thistle Creek runs through the property which has an abundance of brown trout and a private pond stocked with 21plus inch rainbow trout.  Deer, elk, bear,
mountain lion, bobcat, and coyote all call our place home.

Life skills such as cooking, cleaning, hygiene, gardening, nutrition, exercise and finances are also utilized as experiential tools.  We attend 12 step meetings in the area and believe in being part of the community and participating in service work, which is a vital part of this recovery process and benefits the client far more than the recipients.

In all things we take a Holistic approach in the process of learning.  We are firm believers that Natural Laws aid in the process of our two primary goals - discovery of our true self and gaining a relationship with a Higher Power.

We look at recovery as life, and therefore integrate real life into recovery.  This is a 30 day or longer inpatient process.  We do not put a time limit on recovery.
